Religious Life of our School

Bywyd crefyddol ein hysgol

Our school has the privilege to be named after our blessed Mother Mary.  At St Mary's we try to be like Mary, listening to God speaking to us and showing love and kindness to all. We are proud of our school ethos and offer a safe, nurturing and caring environment whereby all members of our school family feel welcome and loved. Our pupils and their families are invited to take part in a wide range of religious activities throughout the school year. Here are just some;

Advent Service

At St Mary's pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 are involved in planning and leading an annual advent service at St. Mary's RC Church Chepstow. All members of our school family are invited to celebrate and share in the advent service as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

May Procession

During the month of May we come together as a school family to prayer with our Lady. Pupils across the school are involved in leading a May Procession and we welcome our families into school to share in this special occasion.

Lourdes

Every year our headteacher Mrs Cerqua visits Lourdes with the HCPT group. All members of the school community have the opportunity to learn more about Lourdes, Our Lady as well as writing petitions that Mrs Cerqua leaves in the grotto with Our Lady.

Nativity

At St Mary's pupils in Reception to Year 2 have the opportunity to share the story of Jesus' birth through an annual nativity play. This is always a highlight of our school calendar!

Father Michael

Father Michael is involved in the daily life our school family. Father leads assemblies across the school, supports with lessons and activities and has even run a gardening club! Father Michael is also a member of our school Governing Body.
